Seven Swords

An epic martial arts movie made in Hong Kong. The movie is based on the popular novel The Seven Swordsmen From Mountain Tian by Liang Yu Sheng.

The story is set in a country filled with violence, China, in the 1600's. Manchurians has taken the throne and has started the Ching dynasty. The government has made a nationwode ban of practicing martial arts in order to try an obtain law & order.

Evil general Fire Wind (Sun Hong Lei) seeks to profit from this situation by leading a squad of executioners through the country, killing anyone caught practicing martial arts, and collecting a bounty from the government for doing so. He heads directly for Martial Village, a small settlement that so far has managed to hold out against the Manchurians invading force, but has yet to encounter Fire Wind and his army.

The film have big names like Donnie Yen in it, wich we among others saw in one of the most talked about martial arts scenes with Jet Li in Once Upon A Time In China 2.

Ong Bak

This one came outta nowhere and went straight to the top. Not a kung fu movie but more like a Muay Thai fighting movie.

Its about a earnest villager Ting (Panom Yeerum AKA Tony Jaa) who arrives in Bangkok looking to find the head of "Ong Bak," a Buddha statue from his local village that was desecrated by unknown villains.

Lead actor Tony Jaa Panom debuts and makes his way into the martial arts world with a blast - high tension thai boxing with spectacular martial arts fighting, som say they havent seen this kinda martial arts action since the early days of Jackie Chan.

Dragon Tiger Gate
(Long Hu Men)

Our first entrance including DOnnie Yen, the great martial artist that has done many battles with Jet Li. etc.

Here comes a new movie, actually a remake based on the popular series in Hong Kong during the 70's.

History taken from YesAsia;

'The Gate of Dragon and Tiger, created by media magnate Tony Wong Yuk-long in the 1970s, was a milestone in the history of Hong Kong comics. More than one generation of Chinese youngsters have been mesmerized by its tales of heroism and heart-pounding martial arts scenes. Inspired by the basic human values that the series upholds, the film revisits a bygone era, where back street boys can fight for justice in the community. While the spectacular action will appeal to Chinese and international audiences, the film is also an attempt to rekindle the passion and vitality lost in a mercenary and morally ambiguous society. '

Made by Wilson YIP Wai Shun, wich is one of the most sought after filmmakers in Hong Kong. Looking forward to this one, judging by Donnie Yen's skills and the people behind this release, this will be a winner.

My Kung Fu Sweetheart

More like a comedy, this new 'kung fu' film looks very interesting - it got some of the same crowd that were in 'Kung Fu Hustle'.

The story goes like this...

Weaned on tales of Kung Fu Masters and villainous fighters, young Phoebe, never expected her parents to be members of the legendary Kung Fu Academy, located on Cloud Mountain. The startling revelation occurred on the night an assassination attempt was made on her life. Determined to be like her parents, she enrolls in the Academy.

She graduates several years later, and assumes a life of normalcy with a corporate job at Lams’ Corporation. Here, she befriends Dragon. At a meeting with Lam’s Corporation’s business rivals, a massacre occurs. The business rivals turn out to be the villianous traitor of the Academy, Mr White (aka White Eyebrows) and his henchmen. Dragon escapes severely hurt. Phoebe takes him to the Academy for treatment. The Academy’s 18 Golden Warriors heals him, and imparts martial skills to him. Together with Phoebe, and her parents, they defeat White Eyebrows with their newly acquired skills, “True Love Kung Fu”.

Havent seen this one yet, but looking forward to it!
