Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

A very popular kung fu film, actually it is in imdb (internet movie database) top 250 - listed at #115. It also won 4 Oscars. The role of Master Li Mu Bai wich is played by Chow Yun Fat was originally intende for Jet Li, but he turned the role down as he had promised his wife that he would'nt work as she was pregnant.

The film is directed by Ang Lee, wich got other big films like The Hulk and the latest blockbuster Brokeback Mountain in his repertoire.

The story is about a great warrior who decides to turn in his great jade sword called The Green Destiny to a friend. The sword gets stolen and its up to Li Mu Bai to retrieve the sword. It contains beautiful fighing in trees and on rooftops, and its a very captivating film.

Fearless
(Jet Li's latest..)

When talking about kung fu movies, you just have to involve Jet Li - He is probable the most known asian action star besides Jackie Chan.

Jet Li's latest movie is called Fearless (Huo Yuan Ja). Jet Li has sadly announced that this will be his last martial arts / kung fu movie. Though it got a few cheesy morale issues - its a good movie - in fact, its great. Its filled with spectacular kung fu and energic action from several different martial art styles.

The story is about a young boys dreams of continuing the legacy of his father as an established as a world-class fighter in China. After reaching his goal, however, a personal tragedy causes him to disappear for several years. He's not heard from until the honor of defending his country in an international tournament surfaces.

Kung Fu Hustle.

Kung fu hustle was a very funny movie, it came out in 2004 thus beeing a very new kung fu movie - not a lot of them beeing ade these days. - It was made by Stephen Chow (Wich also plays the lead..) who's last movie was Shaolin Soccer.

This movie kinda mocks the different styles in kung fu and really puts the sci-fi in regular kung-fu movies on the edge. The movie takes place in 1940's China and is about the struggle of a wannabe-gangster who wants to join the ruling mob gang called 'Axe Gang'.

Though beeing a kung-fu movie, its not like the classic kung fu movies - its more a comedy, and its not like anything you've seen before...
