My Kung Fu Sweetheart

More like a comedy, this new 'kung fu' film looks very interesting - it got some of the same crowd that were in 'Kung Fu Hustle'.

The story goes like this...

Weaned on tales of Kung Fu Masters and villainous fighters, young Phoebe, never expected her parents to be members of the legendary Kung Fu Academy, located on Cloud Mountain. The startling revelation occurred on the night an assassination attempt was made on her life. Determined to be like her parents, she enrolls in the Academy.

She graduates several years later, and assumes a life of normalcy with a corporate job at Lams’ Corporation. Here, she befriends Dragon. At a meeting with Lam’s Corporation’s business rivals, a massacre occurs. The business rivals turn out to be the villianous traitor of the Academy, Mr White (aka White Eyebrows) and his henchmen. Dragon escapes severely hurt. Phoebe takes him to the Academy for treatment. The Academy’s 18 Golden Warriors heals him, and imparts martial skills to him. Together with Phoebe, and her parents, they defeat White Eyebrows with their newly acquired skills, “True Love Kung Fu”.

Havent seen this one yet, but looking forward to it!

House Of Flying Daggers (Shi Mian Mai Fu)

From the director that gave you 'Hero' comes another tale from the ancient China - specced with beautiful scenings and spectacular kung fu.

The story starts of with a rumour that a young dancer called Mei is affiliated with the secret organization 'Flying Daggers'. The police officer Leo sends an officer named Jin aka 'the Wind' to investigate and he goes undercover and helps Mei, hoping that she will lead him to the people in the Flying Daggers.

Though this is a love story, its filled with intense martial arts and amazing Kung Fu scenes, as with 'Hero' this one also got amazing scenery.

Drunken Master

(Jui kuen)

As with Jet Li, here comes the other master of kung fu - Jackie Chan, with one of the real classic kung fu movies.

This movie is from 1978, and is great and very funny.

The story is about Wong Fei Hong (Jackie Chan), who is sent to train with his cruel wine drinking uncle - who is known for crippling his students. After a while Jackie Chan escapes from his uncle to get away from his extraordinary brutal training. On the run he gets beaten senseless by an assasin. After that Jackie is left himiliated - and eager for revenge he returns to his drunken master and takes up his training again, and wants to learn the 8-Drunken Genii kung-fu.

This movie turned out to be a great hit back in the 70's and drew in more then 8 Million HK dollar, and is one of the most seen classic kung fu movies.

The sucsess came from Jackie Chans kung fu teqniques mixed with comedy, the later usual Jackie Chan slapstick kung fu.
